Jakarta, CNN Indonesia —
Presiden Xi Jinping scheduled to announce the first resolution Communist party China (CCP) since the last 40 years in the closing of the party’s plenary meeting on Thursday (11/11).
The resolution could potentially give Xi Jinping a mandate that increases his chances of leading China for life.
The resolution document which is predicted to change the direction of China’s policy will be announced on Thursday (11/11) in an official announcement.
According to a report by the CCP tabloid Global Times, the resolution of the plenary meeting will focus on celebrating a century of the party’s history.
The resolution is also said to be asking two questions. First, why has the CCP been successful in the past? Second, how can the CCP continue its success in the future?
Before Xi, only Mao Zedong and Deng Xiaoping, the Chinese leaders, had published a resolution on the CCP’s history.
The two Chinese leaders both used the opportunity to strengthen the grip of the leadership until they finally died.
In Mao’s doctrine published in 1945, the resolution focused on eliminating political enemies and creating the value principle that only he has the “right line of leadership” to lead the party.
Meanwhile, Deng’s resolution document condemns Mao’s Cultural Revolution ideas. Deng also used the document to strengthen power over China.
“In both cases, Mao and Deng Xiaoping, these two used central committee meetings and resolutions to reinforce the defeat of political opponents and strengthen themselves,” former diplomat Charles Parton said in a report written for the Council on Geostrategy. The Straits Times.
Meanwhile, Xi himself has been moving to stop his enemy long ago. Xi’s anti-corruption campaign has also ousted his rivals over the past decades.
It also makes the assumption that there are no more senior officials who have the experience and capability to become his successor as China’s leader.
Yu Jie, Senior Researcher on China at the think-tank Chatham House, said this resolution will establish a stronger centralization of political power within the CCP.
“(The resolution) also marks a new era for China under Xi, which is economically more prosperous with greater confidence to play a role internationally,” Yu said.
With Xi’s historical resolution, he is predicted to dare to push for a common prosperity campaign to close the wealth gap and cut dependence on the United States.
The Central Committee of the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) began a four-day plenary meeting from Monday (8/11) at a military hotel in the capital Beijing. The meeting, which was secret and closed to the media, was attended by 400 top Chinese officials.
Some of them are party leadership members, ministers, regional party chiefs, senior generals, and executives of state-owned conglomerates.
This plenary meeting is one of a total of six major five-year meetings of the CCP Central Committee and is considered to be the most important.
This week’s meeting is the last chance to negotiate before the 20th CCP Congress takes place in the fall of 2022 which is predicted to secure Xi Jinping’s third term as president.
