China’s supreme leader told the tens of thousands of people gathered in Beijing’s Tiananmen Square that the CCP has achieved its hundredth goal of creating a sufficiently prosperous society.
“(We) are now marching confidently toward the goal of the second 100 years of building China into a great modern socialist state in all respects,” he said, referring to the 2049 centenary of the People’s Republic of China as quoted from Newsweek, Thursday (1/7/2021).

Xi praised the party’s early history, including its humble working-class roots in the years following Russia’s October Revolution. The Chinese leader’s speech exuded decisiveness as he declared China’s readiness to fend off intimidation and oppression by “foreign powers.”
“We have never bullied, oppressed or subjugated the people of any other country, and we never will,” he said, before warning of the party’s unwavering commitment to resolving the “Taiwan problem.”
