“A change that hasn’t happened in 100 years is coming,” Chinese President Xi Jinping told his Russian counterpart Vladimir Putin before departing from his official visit to Moscow.
“We will make this change together,” the Chinese leader’s interpreter told the Russian president.
These words are likely to seriously alarm the West.
“Take care, my dear friend,” added Xi Jinping, shaking the hand of Vladimir Putin, who wished him a safe journey, “Daily Mail” writes.
The two leaders announced the beginning of a “new era”, after which Xi Jinping departed from Moscow’s Vnukovo airport. The Chinese president was sent off by a guard of honor to the background of the Chinese and Russian national anthems.
In February 2022, the two announced that they had established a “boundless” friendship, and Putin invited Xi to visit the Russian capital. Since then, they have spoken publicly about strengthening their “special relationship”.
The two leaders had an official meeting in the Kremlin on Tuesday. Xi Jinping and Putin signed a number of memorandums and agreements designed to strengthen bilateral cooperation on a range of issues.
They were photographed drinking champagne together at the Kremlin Palace, with Xi inviting his Russian counterpart to visit China later this year.
