The Chinese have accordingly received a promise to establish an intergovernmental dialogue on artificial intelligence, in the area of which Washington has imposed heavy sanctions on Beijing. A drug control cooperation task force will be set up (the Americans say tens of thousands of their drug addicts are dying from China’s “nastiness”).
Of course, Taiwan and Ukraine were discussed, but no substantial specifics were given to the public on these topics. We agreed to significantly increase the number of flights, which because of Covid and then, because of the deterioration of relations, fell tenfold. Of course, there are also culture, education, sports…
No matter how you look at it, there are no visible “breakthrough” acts. You cannot consider your companion’s patient explanation to his interlocutors as a breakthrough that “China and the United States have two choices: strengthen cooperation to solve global problems, promote global security and prosperity, or provoke bloc confrontation and allow the world to move towards chaos and division.” This is not the first time that the Washington “Vaska the Cat” /according to Krylov’s fable/ has heard this, but it does not prevent him from folding the stolen crumbs.

But the internal “abscess” has not disappeared, which also needs to be understood. And the Chinese leader’s remark that “both sides must understand each other’s principles and red lines,” sounded quite appropriate at the meeting.
