xherdan Shaqiri not in the squad Liverpool against Arsenal in the League Cup. Jürgen Klopp hinted that Shaqiri was being approached by another club.
The Swiss winger is one of Liverpool’s players who performed well when he rolled Lincoln City 7-2 in the third round. However, Shaqiri was left by Klopp when the Reds were eliminated by Arsenal on penalties in the last 16 match, Friday (2/10/2020).
Shaqiri has indeed become a surplus in the Reds’ midfield which is getting increasingly crowded this season. The former Bayern Munich and Inter Milan player was unable to compete with Fabinho, Georginio Wijnaldum, Naby Keita, Jordan Henderson, Thiago Alcantara and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain.
Reportedly, Shaqiri is in demand by two clubs. Liverpool do not want to take the risk of playing ShaqiriEspecially before the close of the summer transfer market on October 5.
“I can’t and I don’t want to say anything about it. What I can say is that he was not injured and he was not brought in for no disciplinary reasons,” the Liverpool manager. Jürgen Klopp said quoted Standard.
“Now is the time when a manager gets information, I have to act on it.”
Shaqiri joined Liverpool from Stoke City in the summer of 2018. The 28-year-old footballer has never actually been able to claim a place in Liverpool’s first team in 42 appearances with eight goals and five assists.
Liverpool dropped out of the League Cup after drawing with Arsenal 0-0 until normal time. Even though the Reds were more aggressive and dominant after making 16 attempts, almost three times that of the opposing team (6).
“What’s missing? Goals. There’s a lot of difference of course when you put some players together, especially in important positions. I am very happy with the team performance, there are some who are doing well individually. It’s like a Premier League game but we were weak on the last ball, “said Klopp.
