The moment was captured by a Travel Influencer’s TikTok account @deddy.traveler. The man whose full name is Deddy Sulaimawan said the Toyota Innova broke down on the extreme incline in the Dieng Plateau.
To detikcom, Deddy told that at the time of the incident he was heading to Sembungan Village, the tallest village on the island of Java. There are two cars used, one Toyota Innova, the other Daihatsu Xenia. Innova seemed to fail to climb while Xenia by taking momentum from below was able to pass the extreme incline.
“On this trip, on the way to Sembungan Village, the highest village on the island of Java, two cars carrying assessors took a short break at Sikarim Waterfall which is the highest waterfall on the island of Java as well. And at the last climb, the highest and took a sharp turn, the first vehicle, the Toyota Innova broke down in the middle of an incline. The incline is indeed the most extreme incline in the Dieng Plateau because of the difficult terrain and deep ravines,” said Deddy to detik.com via text message, Tuesday (31/5/2022) .
Deddy said that the Innova, which is not strong enough to climb, is thought to be due to the load it carries. In addition to being filled with five people, the Innova car also contained a lot of files and belongings.
“In the beginning, some of the items from the gray car (Xenia) were transferred to the Innova car with the consideration that the gray car was older, the cc was smaller and did not fit,” said Deddy.
However, while in the middle of an incline the Innova engine suddenly lost power, aka collapsed. The driver immediately pulled the handbrake to prevent the car from sliding backwards.
“And after feeling safe, the driver wanted to continue the journey again, it turned out that the Innova’s rear brake locked so that when he wanted to run, the rear brake from the wheels emitted smoke. And finally all passengers got off, including all passengers from the second car who helped, considering the dangerous terrain. with a very deep chasm,” he explained.
Finally, the Innova had to go down slowly first to pick up momentum. The car can continue to climb. While the Daihatsu Xenia car with empty passengers previously waiting below managed to climb.
