Memory expansions for the two new Microsoft consoles they will not be produced solely by Seagate, as confirmed by Jason Ronald in a message later taken up by Aaron Greenberg.
So far we have only seen the 1TB expansion produced by Seagate, the cartridge arrived at the international editorial offices along with the console and we also received it, however the expansions will not be made only by the aforementioned brand but also by other manufacturers.
Specifically, Ronald talks about “a variety of expansion cards with different shapes, sizes and memory cuts“. Just the Xbox Series X / S expansion cards ended up in the center of a series of jokes between the PlayStation and Xbox communities with supporters of the Microsoft console praising the extreme simplicity of connecting external memories, unlike what happens on the Sony console, as shown in the video teardown di PlayStation 5.
Update – Greenberg modified the Tweet by removing any reference to “other companies“cited above, visible in any case in the original source. Even the post on Xbox Wire has been modified accordingly, at the moment therefore there are no certainties regarding the existence of external SSDs for Xbox Series X / S not manufactured by Seagate.
