Xbox revenue grew 0.5% at the start of the new fiscal year

Microsoft unveiled its latest financial results and reveals it has had the best start to the fiscal year for its video game division, about 1% higher than the previous year’s result, the best it has ever recorded.

Between the months of July and September 2022, Microsoft Gaming recorded a growth of 0.47% in revenues generated by the video game division.

In these three months it has grossed 3.61 billion dollars, just above the 3.59 billion recorded in the same period of 2021 and the new best result obtained.

The slight increase is due to improvements in the sales of consoles and accessories, up 13% from the previous year and above Microsoft’s forecasts, while content and services are down 3%, partially offset by the growth in subscriptions to Game Pass, the popular face of its video game division.

Microsoft says it has seen a decline in sales of its content and that of other partner publishers, with fewer hours of play and greater monetization. The company has not provided updated figures for the increase in Game Pass subscribers and at the moment the latest official figure is 25 million subscribers.
