The past period has been quite noisy when it comes to being able to pre-order, among others, the PlayStation 5 and the RTX 3080 video card. Something Xbox seems to have learned from.
Xbox has previously indicated that the next-gen console can be pre-ordered on September 22, and recently revealed that it will start at exactly 9 am Dutch time. Something for which they go to great lengths to achieve this.
When pre-ordering the PlayStation 5, you soon saw that almost every retailer in the Netherlands chose its own time to place the pre-orders of the PlayStation 5 on the websites. Xbox is trying to counter that with its next-gen consoles with a scheme.
Every retailer that already puts the Xbox Series X / S online before the embargo expires, will receive a hefty penalty, as no one less than Geoff Keighley know. When Xbox determines that this is the case, the amount of Xbox Series X / S that this retailer would originally get will be reduced. That means less turnover for the retailer, but also less quickly a console for you.
The retailers have therefore been warned and it is therefore very likely that you will not easily see a stray Xbox Series X / S pre-order go live before the planned date, which of course is September 22 at 9 in the morning. The Xbox Series X / S themselves will not be released until November 10 and are sold for a price of 499 euros and 299 euros.
