Xbox believes that games are suitable for people of all ages, including the youngest and most vulnerable players. Xbox wants to ensure that these experiences, especially when it comes to interacting with others, are positive and respectful. All players should get the best social gaming experience in an environment of mutual respect and safety.
In this regard, Xbox, Nintendo, and PlayStation three game console platform manufacturers agree that protecting online players requires a variety of professional methods, that is, a combination of advanced technology, supportive communities, and skilled human supervision. When everyone works towards the same goal, more work can be done. Therefore, the three parties will continue to invest, develop, and expand methods to protect user safety, giving priority to protecting players-especially the most vulnerable players.
In order to achieve the goal, the three parties jointly formulated three guiding principles.
The first is “prevention”, which gives players and parents the ability to understand and control the gaming experience. This includes providing control measures for players to define their own game experience, providing parents with necessary and easy-to-use tools and information to create an appropriate game experience for their children, and actively promoting them through various channels.
The second is “partnership.” The three parties will work hard to cooperate with industry trade organizations, industry members, regulatory agencies, law enforcement agencies and experts to develop and implement online security plans to promote user safety. Work with the community to promote safe gaming behavior and encourage the use of reporting tools to prevent young players from being hated, harassed or exploited in any other way. Cooperate with rating agencies such as ESRB and PEGI to ensure that games are properly rated.
Finally, there is “responsibility”. The three parties will shoulder the security of their platforms for all players. Specific measures include making it easy for players to conduct behaviors that violate the guidelines. In addition to deleting the illegal content, appropriate compulsory measures such as suspension of rights will be adopted for violations. Respect local laws and respond to all legal requests from law enforcement agencies. If illegal behavior is observed or players are at risk of imminent harm, law enforcement agencies will be proactively notified.
