Microsoft is realizing its vision of “Xbox Play Anywhere” and in the coming months we are to meet a new device that will turn TVs into consoles. Jeff Grubb from Venturebeat reveals the first details of the initiative.
Microsoft yesterday launched Fortnite in Xbox Cloud Gaming and Epic Games production is available without any subscriptions. Each player can, for example, pick up a smartphone and start playing the most popular Battle Royale. However, this is just the beginning, and the next step is to deliver the game directly to TV sets.
Jeff Grubb found information according to which Microsoft intends to release a new device for streaming games from the cloud in the next year. The equipment will mean that players will not really need to have Xboxes to play the latest games.
“Over the next 12 months, Microsoft plans to release an Xbox cloud game streaming device. It will likely resemble an Amazon First Stick or a small disc similar to a Roku. Like the Roku, the Xbox device will provide access to movie and TV services, as well as an Xbox Game Pass Ultimate game library. ”
However, if you have a suitable Samsung TV with Smart TV, apparently all you need to do is download the application under development – Microsoft wants to use it to provide players with access to the Xbox game catalog.
“However, if you already own a Samsung Smart TV, you can opt out of having a separate device altogether. Microsoft is working closely with its partners at Samsung to develop an Xbox game streaming app for Samsung TVs. This one should also make its debut in the next 12 months ”.
The presented news will not be a big surprise for Microsoft fans who observe the activities of the Redmond corporation, because Phil Spencer and his team have repeatedly said that he wants to reach all possible players. Of course, the best gameplay option will still be to connect a console or computer to the TV, but many players will certainly be interested in such a proposal.
