The annual The Game Awards took place last night, which was filled with games, including many great previews like Hades 2 and Armored Core 6. Overall, the show went very well, and judging by that, 2023 is going to be a very glorious year for games . At the same time, Sony was collecting prizes after prizes, while the competitor in the face of the Xbox was almost invisible.
It’s ironic that The Game Awards 2022 was held at the Microsoft Theater and the event was attended by Phil Spencer himself. One of the Xbox-published games even won an award, unveiled another batch of Game Pass titles, and new features were announced… but otherwise, loyal fans of the brand were left disappointed.
In social networks they express bewilderment: because, with all the studios purchased and the titles under development, Xbox hasn’t shown anything since June itself.
The host of the popular show Kinda Funny tweeted:
Very surprised that Xbox didn’t participate in The Game Awards in any way. This, in my opinion, is a missed opportunity to imagine what awaits us in 2023.
And Wirecutter’s editor noted:
This time the Xbox was the quietest of all the Game Awards ceremonies.
Some are surprised that even Nintendo has had more presentations than Xbox. Others say it’s been three years since the release of the Xbox series and the Microsoft platform is just swinging.
For some strange reason, Xbox hasn’t even ported Starfield and Redfall, which are scheduled for release in 2023. Against the backdrop of the regularly appearing Game Pass icons, it seems that Xbox has put all its capabilities into the subscription service. Especially against the background of the situation with Activision Blizzard, because the likelihood of blocking the deal by the antimonopoly service has become quite real.
