Xbox – Comes to the TV

The big gaming fair E3 has for a number of years been held every June, but in 2020 the organizers were forced to take a break due to the corona outbreak.

This year, there are more normal conditions with trade fair floors reopening, but the E3 trade fair is not among them. Without a shortage of game news for that reason.

This week is a packed package with game news from large parts of the industry in what has been unofficially dubbed “non-E3”.

Xbox TV-app

Microsoft will hold a big Xbox + Bethesda show at 19 tonight Norwegian time, but has already unveiled some exciting news that players can look forward to.

Among them is that Xbox Game Pass and cloud streaming of games also come to smart TVs. In the first round of Samsung’s 2022 series of smart TVs that get a dedicated Xbox app for streaming games.

The Xbox app on TV supports Xbox Wireless Controller, Xbox Adaptive Controller, Elite Series 2 and PlayStation DualSense, among others.

Thus, you can soon stream your Xbox games on PC, mobile, tablet and TV in addition to the Xbox consoles.

Xbox writes in the press release that they are also exploring other TV collaborations, so we assume that it will not be too long before others than Samsung’s TVs also get the Xbox app.

Spilldemoer

At the same time, Microsoft plans to invest more in game demos by getting developers paid to create demos that will be available to Xbox Game Pass members.

This is so that players can test the games before they are launched, but also so that the developers can create some commitment for their games. This can be especially useful for indie developers.

Rival Sony launched gaming demos for PlayStation 5 in October last year.
