According to the Xbox team, which announced the news during its presentation at Gamescom 2021, it will be possible to play some titles before downloading the games, through a simple click. Something that can be useful in many scenarios: saving disk space for some types of games, experimenting a little before proceeding with the download of hundreds of GB, or simply saving time in sessions with friends, where it will become easier to log in in multiplayer games.

Although there is not yet a big difference in gaming experience between the new and the previous generation, this feature opens the door to the possibility of playing future games exclusive to the new generation, or taking advantage of some of its features on older consoles. , as will be the case of Microsoft Flight Simulator Where The Medium, for now.

There will, however, be limitations, namely in the stream quality, with the promise of a 1080p and 60FPS experience, something that is currently supported by PCs and mobile devices.
