MechAssault and MechAssault 2: Lone Wolf launched the first Xbox and became extremely popular. The latter, in particular, offers surprisingly advanced multiplayer, in which you climb out of your mech and try to hack and take over your opponent’s war machine.
Those old enough to remember these games often remember them so fondly because they were great games in an era when there really wasn’t anything like them. To be fair, this isn’t a very common theme either. One person who really misses these games is Xbox boss Phil Spencer.
Was there a few days agoTokyo Game ShowDuring the Q&A, he was asked what franchise he would like to see resurrected, and his answer was MechAssault:
“I’ve always wanted us to go back and revisit the MechWarrior space, and I think there’s a lot we could do. There’s a lot of stuff throughout the series that was ahead of its time in some way, and it would be nice to go back and revisit it.
Unfortunately, that doesn’t mean it’s going to happen anytime soon, as Spencer also added that they“There are no plans for today, so this is not a leak of anything,”Then ended his answer: “But that would be a good choice.”
