Xavi Speaks Up on Messi’s Decision to Choose Inter Miami Over Barcelona

Messi decided to end his European career and announced his move to Inter Miami last Thursday (8/6) after his contract at Paris Saint-Germain expired.

He rejected a mega-contract offer from Saudi Arabia whose value was reported to be €500 million, and chose not to return to Barcelona because his departure in 2021 still left scars.

THEY SAID:

Asked about Messi’s decision, Barca boss Xavi said he could understand the steps taken by his former colleague.

He said to Jijantes FC: “Over the past few days and weeks, I have realized that he can no longer see the return to Barcelona clearly.”

“You have to understand that being Messi is not easy. Everyone is attracted to him and he never finds comfort.”

“Leo explained his decision, that for the last two years he has not been happy. I can understand that he doesn’t want to feel pressure anymore. I have spoken a lot with Messi [soal kepulangannya] and we were all looking forward to it, but in the end it didn’t happen.”
