Xavi is about to return to FC Barcelona. According to Spanish media reports, the former director’s commitment as the new head coach has been confirmed. The Qatari club Al-Sadd announced on Friday that the 41-year-old had terminated the contract and the club had agreed to move to Barcelona. Xavi will succeed Ronald Koeman with the Catalans.
In order to allow Xavi to exit his current contract with Al-Sadd, Barcelona will have to pay five million euros, according to reports. The traditional Spanish club is currently plagued by a sporting crisis. Since the departure of superstar Lionel Messi, things have stopped working, and the Blaugrana are only ninth in the championship. Al-Saad announced that Xavi had informed the club a few days ago that he wanted to return to Barcelona “because of the critical phase his home club is going through”. Don’t stand in the way.
