Xavi Responds to Criticism After Barça Was Defensive When Beating Madrid

Barcelona

Barcelona heavily criticized after losing Real Madrid 1-0 of Copa del Rey. Barça coach Xavi Hernandez believes there is a bias against his team.

Barca visited Madrid at the Santiago Bernabeu in the first leg semifinal, Friday (3/3) WIB. In that match Barcelona did not play attacking as usual but instead defended.

The cules recorded only 35% ball possession, the lowest in 861 games, and fired four attempts (2 on target). Barca’s own victory was obtained thanks to an own goal from Madrid centre-back, Eder Militao, after hitting a rebound from Franck Kessie’s kick in the first half.

Barcelona will host Valencia at Camp Nou in the Spanish League continued, tonight (5/3). Xavi said Barcelona was considered different from other teams.

“I know it caused a bit of a commotion,” Xavi was quoted as saying FourFourTwo. “Barca is the most difficult club in the world; you beat Real Madrid 1-0 and it’s not convincing [orang-orang].”

“Otherwise it will be a national holiday. I said that last season and I was blasphemed for that: at Barca you have to win and convince, and that’s our target.”

“However, the opponents are the reigning LaLiga and Champions League champions, and if they press high on you it’s difficult. It’s about understanding football: talking about possession when they’re playing man to man makes no sense.”

“We didn’t put ourselves in a low block position in the box, Real Madrid that put us there. That’s football,” Xavi said in response to criticism Barcelona.
