Xavi Hernandezcoach of Barcelona, explained the reasons behind his decision to continue with the team for next season. In a statement to the media, he highlighted the trust he has received from different levels within the club, including the president and the board of directors.
Xavi He emphasized that his decision was not motivated by money or ego, but by the perception of confidence in a winning project. Likewise, he rejected claims about his continuity related to financial aspects, pointing out that any insinuation in that regard was unfair.
“I continue because I show the trust of everyone, of the president, of the board, of Deco, of Rafa (Yuste) and of the footballers. If they have said this about the money for the year of the contract, it is to hurt me. If I did not continue, the money from my contract was for the next coach. So it is totally unfair that that was said,” he explained.
Despite acknowledging that the season has not met expectations in terms of results, Xavi expressed his determination to work for the club and seek improvements for the future.
The coach concluded by stating that the decision to continue was made after a brief meeting with the president, where both agreed that it was the best option.
“In two or three minutes we sat down with the president and saw that it was the best decision. We must work with all the decision in the world, happy and grateful.”
