Xavi Hernandez evaluate Barcelona played badly when beaten by Shakhtar Donetsk in the Champions League. Xavi admitted that Barcelona’s confidence level was declining.
Barcelona collapsed when they faced Shakhtar on matchday 4 of Group H of the Champions League. Playing at the Volksparkstadion, Hamburg, Wednesday (8/11) early morning WIB, the Blaugrana lost 0-1.
After the match, Xavi admitted that Barcelona deserved to lose. The performance level of his students is currently very low.
This is not the first time Xavi has highlighted Barcelona’s performance. Last weekend, Xavi also criticized his team’s performance despite their 1-0 win over Real Sociedad in LaLiga.
The two unsatisfactory performances followed defeat to Real Madrid in El Clasico. Xavi admitted that his team was not confident.
“Confidence is decreasing, we are in a difficult situation and we need to reset,” said Xavi as reported by ESPN.
“It’s a shame because we wanted to ensure a ticket to the top 16. However, qualification is still in our hands and that’s a positive thing,” he continued.
“Our next game is at home, against Porto, and we can confirm it there. We have to get our confidence back. Now we are a bit down.”
“Not long ago we played very well. This is a mental problem,” added Xavi.
Despite losing to Shakhtar, Barcelona still tops Group H with nine points. Barcelona will next host Porto on November 28.
