The winner of the fifth season of “X Factor” Emilija Berziņa has released her second single “Believe in yourself”. Although until now she had created an image of herself as a ballad performer with a guitar on her shoulder, in the new song Emily reveals herself in much more moving tones.
The lyrics and music of “Believe in yourself” are written by Emily herself and, like her debut song “Heart in Ashes”, it was also produced by Swedish musician Povel Olsson. The song was recorded in Latvia and Sweden. “I had the opportunity to visit Stockholm for one day, in producer Powell’s studio, to record vocals. The song has a slightly different dynamic than I’m used to so far, so I was very happy to collaborate with Powell on the recording of this song as well. We had a good connection already while working on “Heart in Ashes”, says Emilija.
The 21-year-old singer has already written several compositions and when it was decided to release the second single, all that remained was to choose the right one. “Believe in yourself” was originally written in English under the name “Game”, and this version is also hoped to be published by Emily someday. It is planned that “Believe in yourself” will be performed live on the big stage for the first time this Friday, March 8, at the Latvian Music Recording of the Year Award “Zelta mikrofons” award ceremony.
About the lyrics of the song. “My regiment is holding me tight! After the show, I received a lot of messages on social networks, and when I met people in various situations, everyone told me – believe in yourself and you will succeed! My mentor Aija Auškāpa also wrote on the T-shirt I wore to one of the performances in big letters in the heart area “Believe, you will succeed!” I dedicate this song to everyone who supported me then and now. I am thrilled and feel that the listeners are living with my progress – my “Heart in ashes” Spotify has already been listened to more than 115,000 times! I hope that the new song will do just as well,” says Emilija. In honor of the single, the musician’s first souvenir line – T-shirts with the empowering message “Believe in yourself” is also being launched.
