X allows the Grok AI chatbot to generate images, including celebrities

X’s Grok-AI chatbot has been able to generate images since Wednesday. The platform uses the FLUX.1 module from Black Forest Labs for this. The image generator doesn’t seem to have many restrictions to prevent celebrities from being imitated.

Thanks the integration of FLUX.1 allows users create images through the X platform and share them instantly. Users note that Grok also allows the creation of images of famous people, which other AI chatbots usually do not allow. This is how users post multiple images from X CEO Elon Musk and the President Donald Trump not Kamala Harriswhere they kiss each other or do other frivolous things. These images also do not have watermarks that indicate they were made by Grok.

In addition to the FLUX.1 integration, X has released two new models in beta, Grok-2 and Grok-2 mini. X says these are faster and more accurate than the previous Grok-1.5 model. Grok-2 is a smaller version of Grok-2. X claims that the Grok-2 model performs better in of Lmsys chatbot benchmark than Claude 3.5 and ChatGPT-4, although the same benchmark shows that Grok-2 does not outperform GPT-4o or Gemini 1.5 Pro.

X says it will bring the Grok-2 models to the X platform, including improved search and response functions. Grok-2 is currently only available to paying Premium users, just like the FLUX.1 integration.
