Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson He is a lover of action movies. He has starred in many, including All Sagas: Hobbs & Shaw, Jumanji Welcome to the Jungle and, most recently, Red Alert. Now think that he’s ready to take on one of the genre’s most iconic roles: James Bond. In a recent interview with Esquire, Dwayne talked a bit about his grandfather’s role on You Only Live Twice and claimed his own place in the franchise.
In the 1967 film starring Sean Connery as the world famous spy, Johnson’s grandfather Peter Maivia quickly appears while fighting Bond and is eventually defeated. The role was very brief, but the scene between Maivia and Connery was full of action. Dwayne claimed that his grandfather’s appearance was great and that he would like to follow in his grandfather’s footsteps. “I don’t want to be a villain again. I have to be James Bond“stated Dwayne Johnson.
Daniel Craig recently announced that after five films with the same role, No Time To Die would officially be his last film playing James Bond after originally planning his exit from the 007 world following the premiere of Specter. Now that the movies need a new hero, there are many rumors about who will fill in for Craig and, Dwayne is one of the actors who will try to get that long-awaited role.
Given his extensive experience in the world of action movies, Dwayne would fit perfectly in the role of the character previously held by actors like Pierce Brosnan and Roger Moore.. It would certainly bring a whole new vibe to the character, which could be quite refreshing after similar actors have played the lead role over the years. The biggest problem would be that Johnson is not actually British.So while it might be cool to see him as Bond, this could probably cost you the paper.
