AEW to host special ‘Grand Slam’ episode of Dynamite at Arthur Ashe Stadium in New York City on September 22, 2021 and WWE to host RAW and SmackDown Supershow at Madison Square Garden in New York City September 10, 2021.
Rarely do WWE and AEW meet in the same city at almost the same time, but today it is possible to compare this scenario for the first time since the two companies returned to the road.
Today we learn via the Wrestling Observer that the AEW has already sold more than 15,000 tickets out of the capacity of 17,000 while ticket sales began on July 16! Which is huge and this is the non-WWE wrestling event that will have the largest crowds in the United States since 1999. On the WWE side the sale is not going as well as there are still hundreds of thousands left. tickets and that the sale began instead, on July 9.
A scenario that is surprising and WWE has been forced to adjust. Indeed, the show at Madison Square Garden was supposed to be a SmackDown event, but the company decided to add the RAW roster to the show to try and attract more fans.
