‘Wuhan Diary’ Chinese writer, “No one is responsible for Corona 19 or apologizes”

In January of last year, Fang Fang, the author of the Wuhan Il-Ki (武漢日記), which documented the tragedy of Wuhan in Hubei Province, China, blocked by a novel coronavirus infection (Corona 19) Criticized its response to Corona 19.

– On the 24th (local time), Pangfang held a series of interviews with Hong Kong South China Morning Post (SCMP) and Hong Kong Bin Fruit Daily, pointing out that the government is evading responsibility for the Corona 19 outbreak.

In a written interview with SCMP, he said, “I haven’t seen any of those responsible for acknowledging, regretting, or apologizing for responsibility. Nothing happened.”

He confessed that he suffered mentally from the criticism poured out for criticizing the government over the past year. Regarding the bad comments towards himself, “I was over sixty years old, but I had never heard such criticism for the first time in my life.” At that time, I was in a big shock.”

Fang Fang emphasized that everyone should record the truth despite someone’s threat. “If each one records the facts as they are, we can get closer to the truth,” he said. “If there is another record like mine, people can easily judge what is right and what is wrong.”

He also mentioned the criticism poured on him in an interview with Hong Kong’s Bin Fruit Daily on the same day, saying, “I was worried that my country would retreat to the period of the Cultural Revolution.”

I also recalled the feelings I felt when writing the Wuhan Diary. “During the blockade, the city was empty. It was a emptiness in fear. It was the first time I’ve ever seen such emptiness in my life,” he recalled.

“Until the coronavirus outbreak, medical services in Wuhan were of high quality. No one thought that the day would come when they could not go to the hospital or see a doctor when they were sick,” he said, representing the despair felt by Corona 19 patients through the Wuhan Journal.

Fang Fang, a native of Wuhan, wrote on his blog daily what happens in Wuhan and his feelings in a diary format on January 23, when the city was blocked due to the Corona 19 incident. Pang Pang’s writing continued for about two months until March 25, and his writing, which vividly contained the reality of the Corona 19 incident, drew attention from all over the world.

Afterwards, he compiled and published 60 diaries, and became a bestseller abroad.

However, this book has not been published in China. Rather, the Chinese state media and some netizens accused him of betraying his country with unfounded claims. They attacked him in a way that reveals his personal information, including allegations of illegal acquisition of Pangfang’s real estate.

Nevertheless, Pangfang did not stop criticizing the government. In March of last year, Wuhan party secretary Wang Zhonglin praised President Xi Jinping, saying, “Rather humbly express gratitude to your owner, Wuhan citizens.” Also, on December 31, last year, a New Year’s address posted on Weibo, a Chinese version of Twitter, caused controversy over China’s far left forces, who were unconditionally patriotic.
