Someone died in a crash with a wrong-way driver on the A73 near Cuijk near Nijmegen. Two others were injured, one seriously, police said. Three cars were involved in the accident.
This happened around 5:30 am on the right side of the road and the road was closed in both directions. The northbound lane was reopened just before 7pm.
A number of emergency services are on the scene, and an air ambulance has also been called. A spokesman for the ANWB speaks of “massive chaos”. The ANWB advises driving through Eindhoven, on the A67 and A2.
Half a year ago, beginning of February, there was also a fatal accident involving a wrong-way driver on the A73. That was a little further south near Venray. One person was also killed and several people were injured.
