Wrong mail: dozens of VUmc medical students nevertheless not drawn in | NOW

A few dozen students who fervently hoped to be able to study medicine at the VU medical center (VUmc) in Amsterdam next school year, came home from a very cold fair on Thursday. They received a digital message that they had been drawn, but received the ‘good news’ due to a technical error.

Employees of the VUmc allegedly discovered the error while sending personal explanations. The correct messages would not have been sent to the corresponding email addresses. Normally an automatic system sorts that.

“As a result, not-drawn-in students received a link that they were drawn-in-error. The sending of the personal explanation was immediately stopped,” the university said. “First we need to investigate what went wrong and where it went wrong.”

The disappointed students were informed about the mistake through individual conversations and were apologized, says spokesperson Marre Roozen in conversation with NU.nl.

It is not yet clear what caused the technical error. Solutions are sought for the students.
