Videos of people burning successful books by the Brazilian author, such as The Alchemist, published in 1988 and with more than 150 million copies sold in 70 languages, has proliferated in recent days among the followers of the Brazilian president.
In almost all videos, Paulo Coelho is accused of being “communist”, “socialist” and “anti-patriotic”, and is invited to live “in Cuba or Venezuela” due to his critical stance on the Bolsonaro government.

Paulo Coelho was born in Rio de Janeiro in 1947 and has lived in Geneva (Switzerland) for years, where he has already established his residence.
