Writer Bronius Bushma visited Veiviržėnai

In the Veiviržėnai library, Broniaus Busma’s book “Relatives. That’s how they made them” and the presentation of the plots of the series. The author of the book himself came to visit. While presenting the book, the writer said that the recently published book “Relatives. That’s how they created them”, perhaps it became a pretext to gather the whole “family” in another cartel.

„<…> It’s been many years since we started the series in 1992. I think that this book is our last meeting, because seventeen actors from “Relatives” are already gone… I could start mentioning the names – they are very big and well-known: Antanas Šurna, Gediminas Girdvainis, Rimgaudas Karvelis, Leonardas Zelčius, Petras Dimša, and many others… The main mission of my book is to honor my former colleagues,” said the writer, presenting the book at the Veiviržėnai library.

Bronius Bušma is a writer, a long-time director and the author and screenwriter of the first Lithuanian series, Giminės, which appeared in 1993. In the creative biography of the indefatigable screenwriter, more films have accumulated over more than two decades – “Dapkai ir Butkai”, “Broliai”, the sequel to “Relatives”, “Rojus Lietuvoj”. Although he is most famous as the scriptwriter of popular television series, B. Bušma has also written a couple of short stories for teenagers – “Freckled Summer” (1991), “Marquis – the King of Angels” (1991), the books “Sventiskas interview”, “Monologas savam kieme” and the novel “Be Good, Jack, Don’t Die!” (2006).

The writer was born in 1946. Ylakakii, Skudos district. in 1970 graduated from the Lithuanian Academy of Music and Theater, theater faculty. The author’s work is characterized by a solid plot. The characters reflect the social types formed in society. The writer’s attentiveness and sensitivity for current affairs – unquestionable. This is evidenced by the popularity of the TV series “Relatives”, which reached the highest ratings, it was like a phenomenon of that era.

Many people who gathered at the book launch had fond memories of this series. All the more so because Gediminas Girdvainis, our compatriot born in 1944, played in it. January 19 Kretinga, and spent his childhood in Veiviržėnai.

The screenwriter presented to the audience not only the book, but also the behind-the-scenes of the creation of the series “Kiminės”, told wittily and with humor about various funny and serious situations of the creative process, showed footage of the creative process of the famous series.

The meeting with Bronius Bushma passed like a moment. People really liked the famous, but at the same time very simple, writer bursting with energy and great mood, a long-time director and the author and screenwriter of the first Lithuanian series, Giminės.
