The address where you actually live must be indicated in the census. If over the years the address of your home has been changed, you must write the new address, explained for “Trud” from the NSI.
For example, some street names have changed over the years. There are also many cases of changed block numbers. Many people have memorized and are accustomed to writing their old address. However, the NSI took the current addresses of the buildings from the municipalities. Therefore, if you specify the old address of the house or block in the electronic census, the software will return an answer that there is no such address. And an electronic card will be loaded to indicate exactly where your home is located. Changed addresses are among the most common difficulties people face when counting online.
On the first day of the census, 46,625 people registered in the system. And the actually counted households are 26,822, in which there are 62,140 people. These NSI data are for 31 hours – from 0.00 hours on September 7 to 7.00 am on September 8. The NSI expects the number of people who will be counted electronically to increase significantly in the coming days.
One of the reasons for the small number of people counted on the first day are the two hacker attacks. The first was around 10 am and the second – around 7 pm. The first was from Sweden and the second from China, the NSI announced. As the second was seven times stronger than the first. The attacks were aimed at overloading traffic through many simultaneous logins that were generated artificially. Therefore, on the first day of the census there was a delay in the electronic system of the NSI. But the hacker attacks were neutralized at the first level of defense, and the levels are four in total.
Whether people’s data is protected is one of the most frequently asked questions by people. They are really protected. When registering for the electronic census, people must indicate their PIN and ID number, but this information is only used to check the register of personal documents – whether it is a real person. After that, this information is not stored in the NSI at all and cannot be stolen.
Deadlines
We are counted online until September 17
The online census continues until September 17. After that, from September 18 to October 3, enumerators will pass through people’s homes, the National Assembly reminded. They will describe the buildings and count the people who have not been counted electronically.
When you count online, after filling in the questionnaire you get a unique 15-digit code. It must be presented to the enumerators, who will pass to the addresses of the people. This can be done in person when visiting them, or by phone. The enumerators will leave notes with their phones on the doors of the homes they have visited if no one opens them. The 15-digit code can also be written on this note, which the enumerators will take on their next visit.
