Wright excited by the arrival at Arsenal of Jesus

Ian Wright has weighed in on what Gabriel Jesus will bring to Arsenal next season.

Jesus has been at Man City for a good number of seasons and Pep Guardiola was more than happy to keep him at the club this summer, but the Brazilian was keen to leave and be regarded as the main man at another club.

There were numerous options for the player, but in the end he decided to join Arsenal and has now revealed that Mikel Arteta played a big factor in his move to London.

Now Gunners icon Wright has opened up and revealed how excited he is to see the Brazilian complete that move to London. Wright said, “I started thinking about what he brings and what he can do. I was thinking, he’s perfect. He’s perfect, I don’t think he’s been promised anything, he’s going to play.

“For him to come to our place knowing that he is our main man. Seeing a player ready to be number one, going to a club where they want him to be number one, has to be a huge incentive for him.

“If we are seeing Salah e Son sharing the Golden Boot from the outside and how Gabriel Jesus will play more regularly and hopefully score more goals.

“You don’t need to be there as that number nine, scoring a lot of goals to win the Golden Boot, you can do it from the wing.

“It takes all that intense rivalry (between Jesus, Smith Rowe, Nketiah and Martinelli) of quality players because everyone has to step up — that signing is an incredible signing in terms of what we want to do.”

Arsenal I have put a lot of faith in Jesus’ ability and now he will have to prove that he can be the main man at one of the best clubs.
