Sweeping was Dauren Kurugliev, who advanced to the quarter-finals of the 86 kg category in the freestyle wrestling of the 2024 Olympics.
The Greek athlete easily defeated Ramos from Puerto Rico with a technical penalty (and a score of 11-0) and continues his quest for a medal.
Kurugliev’s next opponent (in a little while) is the Iranian Hasan Yazdanicharati, Olympic gold medalist in Rio de Janeiro in 2016.
If Kurugliev wins, then he will compete in the evening in the division semi-finals, for a place in the grand final.
If he loses to the Iranian, then he will have to wait and see what Yazdanicharati does in the semi-finals. If the Iranian makes it to the grand final, then Kurugliev will play in the repechage tomorrow. If the Iranian loses in the semi-final, Kurugliev is eliminated.
