The Pole found himself in the repechage, because his quarter-final rival, Iranian Alireaza Mogmadipiani, defeated Ukrainian Zhan Beleniuk in the semi-finals in a 3:3 draw and advanced to the final.
Kułynych (Olympian Radom) lost to the Iranian in the quarter-finals 1:8. Earlier, in the 1/8 finals, the Pole caused a big surprise by defeating the world champion Turk Ali Cengiz.
In Thursday’s repechage, Kulynych will fight Colombian Carlos Andres Munoz Caramillo.
If the Olympian Radom wrestler emerges from the duel unscathed, he will have a chance to win a bronze medal. However, he will have to defeat the famous Ukrainian wrestler Zhan Beleniuk.
Although Arkadiusz Kułynycz defeated the Colombian in the tournament in Spain, one must bear in mind that wrestlers from South America have recently become exceptionally difficult – said Andrzej Supron, president of the Polish Wrestling Association.
In the second repechage fight, the representative of Denmark, Turpan Ali Bisultanov, will fight with the Georgian Lasha Gobadze. The winner will fight for the second bronze medal in this weight class with the Hungarian David Losonczi.
The fate of the gold medal will be decided on Thursday in the competition between Iranian Alireza Mohmadipiani and Bulgarian Semen Novikov.
