London –
Thiago Alcantara has already made his Liverpool debut, against Chelsea. The Spanish midfielder immediately made a record with the Reds.
Liverpool brought in Thiago from Bayern Munich in the transfer market this summer. The 29-year-old player was purchased for 20 million pounds, and was contracted for four years.
The former Barcelona player was immediately taken to the match against Chelsea, in the second week of the 2020/2021 Premier League. Thiago is included in the list of players to face the Blues at Stamford Bridge, London, Sunday (20/9/2020).
Thiago was immediately played in the second half. He replaced captain Jordan Henderson as the Reds central midfielder.
Throughout the 45 minutes of fighting, Thiago successfully carried out his duties okay. According to Opta’s statistical engine, Rafinha Alcantara’s older brother made a special note.
During the second half, Thiago made 75 successful passes. Just for the record, Thiago’s number of passes for 45 minutes is more than the number of passes by all Chelsea players during the 90 minutes of the match.
In addition, Thiago’s number of passes in the second half alone was the highest since the Opta statistical engine began recording total passes at a Premier League match in 2003-2004.
After the match, manager Juergen Klopp himself praised Thiago’s playing style. His new player is considered to be still adapting, but is helped by his ability to release passes on the field.
“He is top. A player at the right time, in my opinion. He is not used to our way of playing, and Bayern play quite differently with this. Playing a little defensive is difficult for him, but with the ball, he always wants to pass it,” said Klopp.
