Wow, the price of a used iPod reaches billions of rupiah

Jakarta, CNBC Indonesia – The iPod era is coming to an end. Apple recently announced that it had stopped producing the iPod Touch, the youngest generation of portable music player devices that preceded the iPhone.

The announcement ends the era of digital music that Apple started when it introduced the iPod in 2001. iPod is known for its ability to fit up to 1,000 CD-quality songs into an ultra-portable design, weighing only 6.5 ounces to fit in the user’s pocket.

However, in the market online iPod prices have skyrocketed. Many found accounts offering used iPods on buying and selling sites online with prices ranging from thousands of US dollars.

An account even auctioned off his iPod collection for US$100,000 (approximately Rp1.46 billion) on an auction site online, eBay. More than 120 accounts appear to be monitoring listing this.

The collection on sale includes 4 limited edition iPods, a first generation iPhone, a second and third generation iPod, as well as some Apple accessories and memorabilia. iPod device limited edition, according to the seller, accompanied by the original box and all electronic devices are still functioning properly.

“There will be very few iPods like this in the world. For Apple iPod collectors, this is already a rarity,” said one seller’s account as quoted from Fortune, on Friday (13/5/2022).

Some accounts try to sell older editions of iPods for tens of thousands of US dollars. One of the limited edition first-generation iPods is priced at almost US$45,000 and there are also sellers who charge US$23,000 for the first-generation iPod.

The hallmark of the first generation iPod is the black and white screen display with control buttons in the form of a circle that surrounds the navigation wheel. The navigation wheel of this oldest device is the only one that physically spins and also the only one to offer 5 GB of storage capacity.
