Jakarta, CNBC Indonesia – Forbes magazine released a list of the 10 richest young billionaires in the world. Interestingly, these young billionaires range in age from 18 to 29 years, spread across various countries such as China, Hong Kong, the United States, to Germany.
When calculated, the total net worth of these 10 young billionaires reaches US$ 29.5 billion or equivalent to Rp. 420.37 trillion, assuming an exchange rate of Rp. 14,365 per US$.
One of the names of the 10 billionaires is Kevin David Lehmann. Launching Forbes, Lehmann was named the youngest billionaire on the planet at the age of 18 years and a total wealth of US $ 3.5 billion or around Rp 50.27 trillion.
The German businessman became heir to a 50% stake in the German pharmaceutical chain, Drogerie Markt, at the age of 14, but remained under guardianship until he was 18.
When he officially turned 18 in September 2021, he became one of the youngest rich people ever. Annually, the Drogerie Markt network generates more than $12 billion in revenue.
The company started in 1973 when Goetz Werner opened his first store in Karlsruhe, Germany. In 1974, Kevin David Lehmann’s father Guenther, then running the family’s Pfannkuch grocery chain, invested in Drogerie Markt. Currently, the pharmacy network has around 3,700 locations.
Guenther transferred his 50% stake to Kevin David in 2017. Neither Kevin David nor his father are operationally involved in Drogerie Markt.
Forbes wrote, one of the company’s philosophies is to ensure employee welfare brings greater long-term success to the company.
