Wow, China is ‘Angry’ & Curses US-Canada, what’s wrong with Xi Jinping?

Jakarta, CNBC Indonesia – Government China condemned the actions of the United States (US) and Canada which sent its warship fleet to the Taiwan Strait. Beijing called the action a provocation that threatens regional security and stability.

Through the Eastern Theater Command of the Chinese People’s Liberation Army (PLA), the country led by Xi Jinping said that its fighter fleet will always be on standby to monitor the movements of the US and Canadian fleets in the area it claims.

“The US and Canada colluded to provoke and cause trouble… seriously endanger the peace and stability of the Taiwan Strait,” he said. Reuters, Monday (18/10/2021).

“Taiwan is part of China’s territory. The theater troop always maintains a high level of vigilance and resolutely opposes all threats and provocations.”

Over the weekend, the US military said the Arleigh Burke-class missile destroyer USS Dewey was sailing through the narrow waterway separating Taiwan from its giant neighbor China, along with the Canadian frigate HMCS Winnipeg. They said the voyage was part of an openness mission in the Indo-Pacific region.

“Dewey and Winnipeg’s voyage through the Taiwan Strait demonstrates the commitment of the United States and our allies and partners to a free and open Indo-Pacific,” the US said.

China itself claims democratically governed Taiwan as its own territory. Beijing has carried out air force missions repeatedly to Taiwan’s air defense identification zone (ADIZ) over the past year.

Most recently, China sent about 150 planes to the zone over four days starting on October 1.

Taiwan itself gave China a big warning after the incident. President Tsai Ing-Wen said China would bear “severe consequences” if it continued to do so and Taiwan would fight back.

“We vow to do whatever is necessary to keep Taiwan from threats,” Tsai said in a statement.

Tensions between Taiwan and China itself have increased since Tsai Ing-Wen was elected president in 2016. Tsai refused to accept the one-China principle that angered Beijing.

Even so, Tsai continues to explore Taiwan’s relations with the US. This makes Beijing’s pressure on Taiwan even more massive.
