Wow! Bundamedic Hospital Profits Up 752% Semester I-2021

Jakarta, CNBC Indonesia – The issuer of hospital management (RS) RSIA Bunda Jakarta PT Bundamedik Tbk (BMHS) recorded a significant growth in net income and net profit throughout the first semester of 2021.

According to the company’s financial report published on the Indonesia Stock Exchange (IDX) website, Bundamedik’s net profit jumped 752.48% year on year (yoy) from Rp 15.81 billion in the first half of last year to Rp 134.78 billion in first half of 2021.

The increase in net profit of the issuer, whose shares are partly owned by the Northstar Group, was supported by net income which grew 94.18% on an annual basis to Rp 902.18 billion as of June 30, 2021, from Rp 464.61 billion in the same period last year.

In more detail, Bundamedik’s income is contributed from 4 posts, namely inpatient, outpatient and in vitro fertilization, and hotels.

From inpatient posts, revenue from drugs and medical equipment was the biggest contributor, reaching Rp 117.48 billion in the first semester of this year. In the second position there are other administrative income of Rp 98.18 billion. Then, in the third position, income from medical support services and experts amounted to Rp 84.94 billion.

Furthermore, from outpatient posts, income from medical support services and experts became the biggest contributors with the amount of Rp 112.49 billion. Meanwhile, revenue from drugs and medical equipment contributed Rp 90.09 billion in the first half of 2021.

Then, from the in vitro fertilization post, fertilization and clinic revenues are still the mainstay of BMHS, with a contribution of Rp 200.27 billion in revenue in the first semester of this year.

Along with the increase in the company’s revenue, cost of goods sold and revenue also swelled 60.26% yoy to Rp 449.02 billion in the first 6 months of this year, from Rp 280.18 billion in the same period in 2020.

As of June 30, 2021, BMHS’ total assets reached Rp 2.40 trillion, up 11.06% from the position at the end of December 2020 of Rp 2.16 trillion. Meanwhile, the company’s total liabilities are Rp 1.18 trillion and total equity will reach Rp 1.22 trillion in the first semester of 2021.

For information, according to IDX data as of July 31, 2021, PT Bunda Investama Indonesia is the majority shareholder as well as the parent entity of BMHS with a share ownership of 57.37%. Then, public investors control 21.03%, while the rest is owned by a number of commissioners, directors, and other individual shareholders with a percentage below 5%.

In addition, Akasya Investments Limited (AIL), an investment company belonging to the Northstar Group which was founded Patrick Sugito Walujo and Glenn Sugita, also recorded holding 4.90% stake in BMHS. Quoting the news CNBC Indonesia on 2 August, AIL entered BMHS through the conversion of bonds into company shares.

Just so you know, currently Bundamedik manages the Citra Ananda Mother and Child Hospital (RSIA), Bunda Jakarta Hospital, Bunda Margonda General Hospital, Bunda Padang General Hospital and Bunda Jakarta General Hospital.

As of December 31, 2020, the company has a capacity of around 336 beds and employs more than 56 general practitioners and 389 specialists who offer services to the company’s patients and approximately 1,643 nurses and other support staff.
