/ world today news/ The city party conference of the BSP – Plovdiv did not arrange the lists and did not approve nominations of candidates for people’s representatives. The delegates also appealed to Svetlana Sharenkova, who agreed to discuss her candidacy for the city. This happened at last night’s meeting of the highest party body.
With 89 votes “for” out of 107 registered delegates, the forum accepted the proposal of VID Dimitrina Vakrilova to drop from the agenda of the voting procedure for candidates for people’s representatives and their arrangement in the list of the 16th MIR – Plovdiv-city. In her speech, she recalled how the list issued by the Conference for the elections on April 4, 2021 was completely replaced according to all the rules and criteria of the BSP. “This did not prevent Ninova from claiming that there were violations, and so this lie “swirled throughout the campaign,” emphasized Vakrilova and cited the report of the OPKK working group, which conducted the lightning inspection, which categorically stated the absence of violations. The chairman of the RS of the BSP – Trakia, Dobromira Tosheva, supported the proposal with the argument that there is no point in participating in this game of democracy, since the list is then single-handedly ordered by the chairman Ninova. Todor Stoilov, chairman of the socialists of the largest structure in Plovdiv, BSP – Central, said that the main party organizations refused to even nominate candidates because “they don’t see the point when the list will be arranged on Positano 20”. The chairman of the RS of the BSP – South, Yordan Vasilev, pointed out that even after the loss on April 4, 2021, there is no dialogue, despite Ninova’s request that the lists of leaders and civil/coalition quotas will be formed with the opinion of local structures. “Our opinion was not sought or, if it was discussed with someone, it is not the legitimate leadership of the BSP – Plovdiv”, explained Dimitrina Vakrilova.
The delegates did not approve the remaining 18 names from the list of candidates. Out of a total of 63 nominated members of the Party, 17 agreed to participate in the list, and Ivan Petkov-Bebeto withdrew his documents at the meeting itself, it became clear from the report of the Committee on Proposals. With 74 votes “for”, 20 – “against” and 4 “abstentions”, the Conference dismissed Svetlana Sharenkova. The proposal was made by Prof. Angel Ivanov with the argument that the march of the SDS in the BSP should be stopped. With their decision, the delegates not only did not broadcast the list, but also did not confirm nominations for one.
In the hall, emotional but strong speeches were heard with concern for the future of the BSP and fears that the “Ninova” course puts the existence of the Party at risk. The chairman of the BSP – South, Kostadin Belarev warned that in this way the BSP is isolated. “With this leadership approach, we have come to be called the party of the status quo,” he explained. His deputy in the regional structure, Angel Petrov, emphasized the collective beginning in the socialist party, respect and mutual respect. The young surgeon Lyubomir Paunov caused the applause of the hall with his speech about the idea, about comradeship, about honor and dignity, about professionalism and authority in and outside the Party. “I recused myself because I see that they do not matter to the leadership, as intrigue, backstage and incompetence are preferred,” he declared. Teodora Halacheva thanked all the Plovdiv socialists for the numerous nominations (she has the most of the main structures) and indicated the reasons for her withdrawal: “The policy that the BSP is pursuing at the moment is contrary to my personal principles and understandings. I cannot participate in this campaign and I have given my withdrawal. However, I will continue to work for the BSP as before,” said the youngest deputy in the 44th National Assembly. Before that, she pointed out that on April 4, 2021, the BSP achieved its lowest result in 31 years. “This was a clear answer to the question of whether the BSP manages to meet the expectations of the voters. Although Cornelia Ninova was a leader in Plovdiv, our loss is catastrophic. My personal opinion is that this happened because an attempt was made to turn our Party from the most democratic into a leadership one and into an ugly likeness of our political opponents,” emphasized Halacheva.
The leader of the Plovdiv list for the July 11 elections, Prof. Ivo Hristov, requested a vote of confidence from the delegates. “I’m not used to going into fights that I’m going to lose, fights where I’m going to get shot in the back, fights where there’s no team behind me, when there’s people behind me who don’t know how to fight,” said the professor . The delegates applauded him, but left him alone in the leaves.
“It is sad, it is painful what is happening in the BSP. But I will not give in to Prof. Hristov’s challenge. Thanks to those who nominated me. I made my withdrawal. My team, Prof. Hristov, are the young people you heard before me. They talked about morality, about honor. They are my team and I will not let it down. We have already conducted several campaigns with them, hard battles, but they grew up, proved themselves, and that’s why they were at the top of the list last time – a wonderful list that we presented to the Plovdiv society. This is the list for the good performance and victory in Plovdiv. This team was dumped in the most crude way with manipulation and some of you supported that. Then we did not hear that the Statute was trampled on, that it was not moral. We did not receive answers to our questions to management. No one explained why the chairman was excluded, why the list was replaced, why the City Council was ignored, why parallel structures were created by Mrs. Ninova. It’s sad, comrades. We cannot betray our Party. I stand behind my team, behind these young people who, with their authority, with their names, with their skills, have declared that they will not participate in this game, but will continue to work. The future is ahead of them and in people like them, I believe in that,” pointed out Georgi Tarnovaliyski.
The final version of the list of the BSP for Plovdiv for the early parliamentary elections on July 11 is the responsibility of the Chairman and the leadership of the BSP and will be confirmed on May 30.
