Millions of views were achieved by a video, which its publishers on social media said showed worshipers remaining in their places in the mosque and completing the prayer during the violent earthquake in Morocco on Friday-Saturday night.
The video, apparently taken from a surveillance camera, shows a group of worshipers inside a mosque, and is monitored as they continue their prayers despite the power outage and vibrations.
However, this video was actually taken in Syria months ago.
The video received millions of views from several pages on social media, hours after the violent earthquake that struck Morocco, leaving more than 2,600 dead.

The Kingdom is still under the shock of the most violent earthquake of its kind, which reached 7 degrees on the Richter scale, according to the National Center for Scientific and Technical Research (6.8 according to the US Seismological Service).
Paramedics, volunteers and members of the armed forces are working to find survivors and retrieve bodies from under the rubble, especially in the villages of Al Haouz province, the epicenter of the earthquake south of the tourist city of Marrakesh, in central Morocco.
Old video from Syria
However, the video of the worshipers has nothing to do with the Moroccan earthquake.
After cutting it into fixed scenes, the search led to it being published on YouTube, several news sites, and social media pages since February 25, 2023.
The accompanying caption stated that he was photographed in Al-Farouq Mosque in the city of Al-Dana in Idlib, northern Syria, following the “Hatay earthquake” on February 20.
On that day, two earthquakes measuring 6.4 and 5.8 struck northern Syria and the southern Turkish province of Hatay, which was most affected by the February 6 earthquake, which left more than 45,000 dead in the two countries.
Elements of the circulating video can be matched with other scenes filmed from inside Al-Farouq Mosque.
