Worrying Trump’s Condition! Here are 4 indications

Jakarta

Presiden AS Donald Trump positif COVID-19 on Friday (2/10). Although initially said he had no symptoms, Trump appeared to be developing a serious condition due to COVID-19 infection.

Shortly after the positive news, Trump experienced mild symptoms COVID-19 such as fever and fatigue. Soon, he was immediately taken to Walter Reed Military Hospital for further treatment.

It was stated that Trump’s condition deteriorated after being given the experimental drug COVID-19. Some health experts also suspect Trump’s current condition is far more severe than said.

Here are some things that indicate Trump is not okay when he is infected with COVID-19, as summarized by detikcom from various sources.

1. Evacuated to the hospital

Trump is being treated at the Walter Reed military hospital after being given an experimental drug for COVID-19. The US presidency doctor, Dr. Sean Conley, stated that Trump received a dose of the experimental COVID-19 drug from the company Regeneron shortly before being taken to hospital.

Trump was taken to Walter Reed Hospital on Friday (2/10) by helicopter. The White House said Trump would be treated there for several days.

“On the recommendation of medical experts, the president will work from the presidential office in Walter Reed for a few days,” said White House press secretary Kayleigh McEnany, quoted by CNN.

2. Can dexamethasone

While being treated at Walter Reed Hospital, Dr. Sean Conley said that Trump was given the steroid drug dexamethasone as part of the COVID-19 treatment. Trump’s prescription with dexamethasone is worrying news because the drug is only given to critical COVID-19 patients.

“We decided that in this case the potential benefits (dexamethasone) might outweigh the current risks,” White House doctor Sean Conley told reporters outside the Walter Reed Medical Center, as quoted by the CNN International website.

American Infectious Diseases Specialists say dexamethasone is only given to COVID-19 patients with severe symptoms or need oxygen assistance. Research suggests dexamethasone may be dangerous for patients with mild symptoms.

“We only give dexamethasone to patients who need supplemental oxygen,” said Dr. Amesh Adalja, an infectious disease specialist at Johns Hopkins University.

3. Oxygen saturation is below 90 percent

US presidential doctor Dr. Sean P Conley admitted Trump’s oxygen levels fell within days of being diagnosed with COVID-19. Trump also had a high fever on Friday (2/10) morning, but improved on Sunday (4/10).

According to Dr. Conley, Trump’s oxygen saturation had dropped below 90 percent. Currently, the level is at 98 percent, while the normal range is at 95-100 percent.

“As with any disease, there are frequent ups and downs in its development,” said Dr. Conley in a recent press conference.

4. Trump’s physical condition

Given that Trump is 74 years old and overweight, the risk of experiencing complications from COVID-19 is also higher.

According to the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), older people between the ages of 65 and 74 are five times more likely to be hospitalized. The risk of dying from COVID-19 is 90 times greater than that of young adults aged 18 to 29 years.
