On December 24, 2020, Mr.Somboon Chit is Thom, Assistant Governor Bank card issuing line Bank of Thailand (BOT) revealed that at the end of December 2020 and the New Year 2021, people have higher demand for banknotes.
The BOT has considered economic factors. This includes the COVID-19 situation which affects public spending. Estimated that Commercial banks will have banknotes disbursement from the BOT in the 1 week prior to the New Year 2021 for a net value of approximately 120 billion baht, a decrease of about 5 percent from the previous year.

The BOT has prepared sufficient reserves of various types of banknotes to support the demand.
Meanwhile, Kasikorn Bank prepares cash reserves for service in branches and ATMs. To support spending during the long holidays in the New Year season 28 December 2020 – 1 January 2021 totaling 36,800 million baht.
This amount is divided into cash reserves through branches of 10,500 million baht, with reserves for branches in Bangkok in the amount of 4,500 million baht and branches in regional areas of 6,000 million baht. Currently, there are 860 KBank branches nationwide.
To reserve cash for more than 8,200 ATMs (K-ATMs) nationwide. Totaling 26.3 billion baht, divided into reserves to contain 14 billion baht of ATMs in Bangkok and 12,300 million baht in regional ATMs
