Worried before the European Championship final – fans tried to enter the arena

Pictures from Bein Sports, among others, show how about a hundred people tried to enter the arena and pass roadblocks, while stewards tried to stop them.

Fans have skipped roadblocks, but “there is no reason to worry that this final will not be played”, writes the European Football Association Uefa in a statement.

A spokesperson for Wembley confirms that people tried to enter and that the security staff took help from the police, but that no one entered the arena without a ticket.

At the same time reports journalists on site on social media that there seem to be people who have managed to get in.

Lots of people have gathered at Leicester Square and Trafalgar Square in central London. On social media, pictures have also shown bottles being thrown away and littering.

London police write on Twitter that people have been seen jumping from street lamps, urging everyone to take care of each other and not endanger their own safety.
