Frank Wormuth has largely won his lawsuit with FC Groningen. According to the arbitration committee, the Pride of the North acted unlawfully in the dismissal of the German trainer. FC Groningen must therefore pay Wormuth 400,000 euros.
Wormuth brought the case because of the termination clauses in his contract. After he was appointed by the club at the beginning of this season, he was sent off after just four months. According to the Germans, this was against the law. He believed that he could not be blamed for the fact that he and the club were a mismatch.
The arbitration committee agrees with him, but they do not fully agree with his demand. Wormuth wanted one million euros, but the committee thought that was too much. In the end, he received half of the residual value of his contract. An amount of 405,338 euros, according to this Football International.
Wormuth’s agent Roderik van Kerkhof is very happy with the ruling of the arbitration committee. “This statement does justice to Frank as a trainer, as a person and everything he stands for. He is a trainer who has deservingly devoted a large part of his career to educating and, above all, improving players, trainers and teams. now we can look for a new club in peace. Given Frank’s track record, we have every confidence in that too.”
