New research reveals that the roundworm C. elegans can sense sound even though it doesn’t have ears.

Nationalgeographic.co.id—Caenorhabditis Elegans, is a species ringworm which is believed to have three main senses, namely smell, touch, and taste. However, it lacks eyes and ear organs. Even so, he could feel the light as well as their posture as they moved. Although it does not have ears, this species is also able to feel sound wave.
This offers scientists the opportunity to study auditory sensations. Through a new study by scientists from University of Michigan Life Sciences Institute, found that the worms could sense and respond to sound.
Reported from Tech Explorist, Shawn Xu di Life Sciences Institute said, “There is only one major sense of loss—the sensation of hearing, or hearing. But hearing is unlike the other senses, which are found widely in all other animal phyla.”
