Worms receives more than 500,000 euros from the state

The state of Rhineland-Palatinate is supporting the city of Worms in expanding the Alzeyer Straße and Kirschgartenweg junction with around 540,000 euros. Transport Minister Daniela Schmitt (FDP) has now announced this. The State Office for Mobility (LBM) will send out the approval notice in the next few days.

“Well-developed and safe streets, sidewalks and cycle connections – especially in our inner cities – are of particular concern to us,” said Schmitt, explaining his support for the expansion measures.

The currently provisionally set up roundabout at the intersection of Alzeyer Straße (K1) and Kirschgartenweg (K18) will be expanded into a roundabout with a diameter of around 30 meters. The sidewalks will be designed to be barrier-free and equipped with a tactile guidance system and crossing aids. In addition, cycling traffic should be connected to “Gewerbeschulstrasse”.
