Worms Drug Claimed To Overcome Covid-19 Mutations in South Africa

JAKARTA – Some doctors are pushing Ivermectin aka deworming medicine licensed for human use even though it has not been proven to be clinically effective.

According to the BBC, many people in the country are desperate for something that will reduce the effects of infection as a result of the third wave of the epidemic that hit.

Ivermectin is a drug used to treat parasitic worms that has received a lot of public attention.

Some doctors tell their patients, looking at anecdotal evidence, it can reduce some of the ill effects of the virus.

However, South African medical authorities, drug manufacturers and several leading scientists have warned against using it to treat the coronavirus outbreak.

Coupled with vaccination programs that most vulnerable individuals have not yet received, there is concern about positive cases that will increase due to lower temperatures in the coming winter.

Deaths from the Covid-19 outbreak have recorded more than 52,000 cases in South Africa.
