The Worldwide Prayer Network has published a video message in which Pope Francis comments on the prayer intention for this November: for the Bishop of Rome.
Silvija Krivteža – Vatican
In the video, the Holy Father addresses the faithful around the world, saying: “Ask God to guide me. Your prayers give me strength and help me listen to the Holy Spirit so that I can lead the Church with courage. Being the bishop of Rome does not mean ceasing to be human. On the contrary, day by day I try to become more human together with the holy and faithful people of God, because being a pope is a process, one understands what it means to be a shepherd, one learns to be more merciful, more meek and, above all, more patient, as our God the Father is patient. I can imagine that all the popes at the beginning of their pontificates felt nervous, dizzy, knowing that they would be judged severely and that the Lord would demand a serious answer from us bishops for what we have done. Please do not judge me harshly. Pray for Rome the pope – whoever it is, today it is my turn – that he may receive the support of the Holy Spirit and be able to obey His commands. Let us pray for the Pope that, fulfilling his mission, he may continue to lead the flock entrusted to him in faith with the help of the Holy Spirit. Pray for me in silence. Please pray for me, pray!”
