Turkish Rumeysa Gelgi is considered the tallest woman in the world: the airline had to take very special measures for her maiden flight.
24-year-old Rumeysa Gelgi measures 215.16 cm and is listed in the Guinness Book of Records for her height. She recently boarded her first flight and later wrote on Instagram about “a flawless trip from start to finish.” The young lady also thanked the airline, staff and other people profusely. Six economy class seats removed from the plane – the world’s tallest woman’s first flight
In order to make Rumeysa Gelgi’s flight possible, the airline even had to remove six seats in economy class from the plane. Their journey was from Istanbul to San Francisco and lasted 13 hours. The 24-year-old had to lie down on a stretcher during the flight, so the plane was modified for Gelgi’s maiden flight.
Even as a child, Rumeysa Gelgi was too big to fit into regular airplane seats. A disease called Weaver syndrome causes, among other things, strong bone growth. Due to her condition, she usually uses a wheelchair or walker to get around.
