World’s smallest baby can go home after 13 months in hospital | Family

Yu Xuan was born four months premature. Mother Wong Mei Ling gave birth via emergency cesarean section after being diagnosed with preeclampsia four months earlier. That’s dangerously high blood pressure that can damage vital organs and be fatal to both mother and baby.

The girl had a “limited chance of survival,” according to Singapore’s National University Hospital (NUH), where she was born. “Against all odds, she has inspired those around her with her perseverance and growth, making her an extraordinary ‘Covid-19 baby’, a glimmer of hope amid turmoil,” the hospital said in a statement.
